branding pre shoot
guide

Thank you for booking your branding photo shoot with me!

Now that we've had our pre-shoot planning call, you should have a good understanding about what to bring and what to expect.  This guide is just a reminder about what we have covered and should hopefully answer any questions you may have, but do feel free to contact me if there is anything you're not sure of.

Whether you've chosen a one hour/one location session, or a three hour/three location session we will have a fun shoot together, working through all the set-ups that we've planned and all the shots that we want to achieve.

I will guide you through the whole process, where to look, how to tilt your head, where to place your hands - so you have nothing to worry about!  We always have a lot of laughs on these sessions, and with all of the planning beforehand, shoot day is really fun - so try not to feel too nervous before the session!

YOUR SHOOT

Colour is really important, along with pattern - or lack of! Choose an outfit that doesn't distract the eye from your face, so little or no pattern is preferred, solid colours work well, along with colours that you know work well with your skin tone.

Think about your brand colours and try to stick with those, or go for neutrals and have accessories in your brand colours, such as a silk scarf, earrings or bangles etc.

In terms of style, choose outfits that align with your brand identity (professional, casual, creative) and have a variety of outfits to hand - plus a white vest top as a base layer to enable quick easy changes.  Preparation is key, so do a run through a few days before to check for fitting, no loose buttons or wrinkled shirts.

WHAT TO WEAR

Bring items that have your brand colours in - such as a notebook or journal, pen, mug, a vase with flowers (check out Marlow Cottage Garden Flowers who can provide flowers in your brand colours!).  Also bring your laptop, products, industry relevant books, branded packaging, tools of the trade, business cards and phone - making sure that screens are super clean!

Don't forget your hairbrush and make up,  plus lip salve/gloss (chapped or sore lips need to be avoided!) - and of course, a relaxed, confident smile!

WHAT TO bring

If you're not very confident in styling your hair and doing your make-up, it will always be a good idea to hire a hair and make-up artist to make you feel amazing, and this in itself will give you confidence when having your photos taken. It's by no means essential, but more of a personal preference.

Locally we have some amazing contacts, try Jo Budden, who is based in Marlow.

Professional hair and make-up

Before the shoot there are several things you can do to prepare yourself for the session.

#1 Plan ahead - think about where you are going to use your images and if there are any specific shots you are after then do let me know.

#2 Get your outfits ready - try them on a few days before the shoot, make sure there are no gaps in shirts/blouses, they fit well and add an accessory if you feel this compliments the look. Don't leave it until one hour before the shoot, to then find out you don't feel happy with the outfits - feeling stressed or sweaty is not conducive to a good shoot!

#3 Drink lots the days before your shoot - clear bright skin always looks great and it's amazing how drinking lots of water and eating healthily affects your skin.
